ABOUT US

From farm to roast to your cup

We're a small Cape Town roastery obsessed with traceability, taste, and doing right by the people who grow our coffee.

Our story

Luna began in 2019 with a second-hand roaster in an Observatory garage and a question: why was so much "specialty" coffee in South Africa roasted so far from the people drinking it? We thought Cape Town deserved better — coffee roasted here, for here.

The name comes from the quiet, deliberate pace of roasting under a night sky — no rushing, just attention. That's still how we work: small batches, careful profiles, and a lot of tasting.

How we source

We buy direct wherever we can, working with growers and import partners who share our values.

Direct & traceable

We know the farm behind every bag. Origin, process and variety are on every label.

Fair, consistent prices

We pay prices that sustain growers and the communities that depend on coffee.

Intentional process

Washed, natural and experimental lots — we select what's flavourful and appropriate for each origin.

Our roasting process

  1. 1

    Cupping

Every new crop is cupped and scored before it earns a place on our menu.

  2. 2

    Profile

We build a roast profile for each origin to highlight its character, not mask it.

  3. 3

    Small batch

5–12kg batches, developed slowly and watched the whole way through.

  4. 4

    Rest & ship

Coffee rests, then ships to you within 48 hours of the roast date.
